This small, two seat hovercraft was designed to fill a perceived niche, with moderate technology and a low cost of acquisition, making it suitable for the home and amateur builder.
The Alpha2 type uses a single engine for both lift (air cushion) and thrust, the engine and propeller being fully enclosed by the streamline, conical aft fairing. The builder may choose any reasonable automotive engine of around 50 to 70 HP, preferrably with air cooling. The Alpha2 is intended for use on sheltered waters.
Sport and leisure usage is envisaged. Costing about the same as a small speedboat, the Alpha2 will enable owners to enjoy the experience of hover flight on day trips, with the ability to take the craft home on a trailer that will easily fit into a normal family sized garage.
